New Poll Shows Andy Kim in Commanding Position with Near 20 Point Lead in New Jersey Democratic Senate Primary

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Following a successful campaign kickoff event and the launch of a groundbreaking video featuring real voters sharing their hopes and concerns, a new poll of New Jersey Democratic primary voters shows that Congressman Andy Kim is the strongest Democratic candidate in the race for U.S. Senate in New Jersey.

The poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) this week of 500 likely Democratic primary voters in New Jersey shows that Congressman Kim would receive 40 percent of the vote, while First Lady Tammy Murphy would receive 21 percent and Senator Bob Menendez would receive 5 percent. The poll also shows that Congressman Kim is viewed favorably by an overwhelming majority of NJ Democratic primary voters who know him, with 45 percent viewing him favorably and only 5 percent viewing him unfavorably.

“New Jersey voters know what’s at stake in this election, and we need someone who is proven, experienced, and battle tested to make sure this seat doesn’t give the majority back to Mitch McConnell and Washington Republicans,” said Congressman Kim. “The momentum I’ve seen from day one has been overwhelming. We raised nearly a million dollars in our first week, we’ve had incredible support from the grassroots throughout New Jersey, and people are fired up to restore integrity and bring change to our broken politics. I continue to be humbled by the support I’ve seen on the ground, and through this poll and others like it. I’ll keep working hard to earn the support of every voter across New Jersey.”

Congressman Andy Kim has lived a life of public service — first as a national security official and now as a three-term Congressman. He is battle-tested by beating multiple self-funding millionaires in a district carried by President Trump.

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has deep experience in working to deliver for the people of New Jersey, including to improve health care for veterans and relief for homeowners suffering from Superstorm Sandy. He has been a leader in strengthening congressional ethics and getting money and its corrupting influence out of politics.

As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Andy brings important diversity to Congress. He made history as the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey and is part of a younger generation of leaders in the Democratic Party. He, and his wife Kammy, are raising two troublemaking boys down the road from where he grew up.
