New Poll Shows Andy Kim with Strong 23 Point Lead in NJ Senate Democratic Primary

MOORESTOWN N.J. – With less than six months before the primary election to determine the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey, a new extensive poll shows that Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) remains the strongest candidate in the race with Democratic primary voters.

The poll, conducted for the Kim campaign, shows that Congressman Kim would receive 45 percent of the vote, while First Lady Tammy Murphy would receive 22 percent, and Senator Bob Mendez would receive 6 percent. Kim’s lead is across all major demographics, with the three-term Congressman winning women voters by 17 points over Murphy, 42 points with self-identified progressives, and 19 points with self-identified moderate Democrats.

“I’ve never seen this kind of energy in New Jersey that I’m seeing now on the campaign trail. Voters are fed up with usual Jersey politics and are hungry for a change,” said Congressman Kim. “People are coming out in droves all over New Jersey to join us because they want an experienced public servant that will represent them with integrity through these challenging times.”

The poll comes one month after a survey conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) that showed Congressman Kim would receive 40 percent of the vote, while First Lady Tammy Murphy would receive 21 percent and Senator Bob Menendez would receive 5 percent. This is the first major poll since then and since First Lady Tammy Murphy formally announced her candidacy over a month ago.

Looking ahead, the poll shows that Congressman Kim widens his lead after voters hear positive biographical information about both the Congressman and the First Lady. After information is provided, Congressman Kim receives 58 percent of the vote, while First Lady Tammy Murphy only receives 24 percent of the vote.

Congressman Andy Kim has lived a life of public service — first as a national security official and now as a three-term Congressman. He is battle-tested by beating multiple self-funding millionaires in a district carried by President Trump.
