Congressman Andy Kim Receives Backing from the National Chapter of National Organization for Women in His Race for U.S. Senate

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of the National Organization for Women’s (NOW) national chapter in his bid to become the next Senator from New Jersey. With hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members in all 50 states (and Washington D.C), NOW is the grassroots arm of the women’s movement and is the largest organization of feminist grassroots activists in the United States. Since its founding in 1966, NOW aims to take action through grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.

“I want to thank the New Jersey chapter of NOW for recommending this endorsement, and to the National Organization for Women for placing their trust in me to fight for the women of this country in the Senate,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “I also want to thank both chapters for recognizing that the fight for equal rights and ending discrimination transcends gender lines. I have consistently taken on Republicans in Congress to protect women’s rights and close the inequality gap and have the experience needed to be ready on day one to take on Senate Republicans. I look forward to partnering with members of NOW NJ and others across New Jersey throughout the election cycle to knock on doors, make calls, and get out the vote.”

"There is so much on the line in this election - from reproductive freedom to the future of our democracy - we need champions who have been by our side and who we know can win,” said Christian F. Nunes, Chairwoman-NOW PAC. “Andy Kim is one of those champions. He's a proven advocate for women's equality and rights and he's battle-tested in some of the toughest races in the country. We're proud to support Andy because he's supported us, and because we know he's not only the best candidate to help keep the Senate in Democratic hands, but he'd be the best advocate for women as New Jersey's next U.S. Senator."

Congressman Kim has been a fierce advocate for reproductive freedoms, equal rights, and closing the gender pay gap. Following the 2022 Dobbs decision, Kim supported and voted for the Women’s Health Protection Act, the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, and the Right to Contraception Act. As the lead Democrat on the Military Personnel Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee, Kim has stood up for women in uniform, helping to protect reproductive freedoms through co-sponsoring the Access to Reproductive Healthcare for Service Members Act and has voted to strengthen protections for victims of sexual assault.

First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, going on to vote to impeach Trump twice throughout his presidency. In 2022, Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
