Warren and Sussex County Leaders Endorse Congressman Andy Kim Heading Into This Weekend’s Conventions

Warren’s lone Democratic Mayor and Sussex’s Sparta, Byram, Franklin, Ogdensburg, Wantage, and Frankford Democratic Committees Endorse Andy Kim for United States Senate

Moorestown, N.J. - Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced endorsements from Sussex and Warren County local leaders in his bid for US Senate as he looks towards this weekend's conventions in both counties. Both conventions will be voting by secret ballot with the Sussex Convention taking place on Saturday, followed by Warren on Sunday.

Congressman Kim has been endorsed by the following:

  • Warren County’s Washington Borough Mayor, Ethel M. Conry
  • Sussex County’s Sparta Democratic Committee (Sussex County)
  • Byram Democratic Committee (Sussex County)
  • Franklin Democratic Committee (Sussex County)
  • Ogdensburg Democratic Committee (Sussex County)
  • Wantage Democratic Committee (Sussex County)
  • Frankford Democratic Committee (Sussex County)

  • “I appreciate the support I have received from so many local committees in Sussex County, and am honored to have been endorsed by the only Democratic Mayor within Warren County,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “With my multiple congressional victories in a Trump district and experience winning tough races, I am thankful that local leaders in both counties have placed their trust in me to be the candidate to win in November, and to help turn out Democrats for their down-ballot races.”

“I am proud to endorse Andy Kim and join with the many local leaders up and down the state of New Jersey who are excited to carry him into office,” said Washington Borough Mayor Ethel M. Conry. “[In Warren County] we are accustomed to being ignored by elected officials. I am convinced this will change based on Andy’s record of holding over seventy town halls during his six years in Congress. His record shows that he not only leads with integrity and humility but also with the energy needed to push back against extremists in the Senate…from championing climate policy and affordable healthcare in Congress to protecting our national security as an advisor to our country’s leaders, he has consistently been a principled public servant whose actions and values are aligned with voters across New Jersey. We need a battle-tested candidate who has won multiple times in a Trump district to lead our ticket to victory and finish the job.”

“Congressman Andy Kim has proven himself to be unequivocally the most qualified candidate to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate,” said Sparta Democratic Municipal Chair Sally Larson. “His unbridled commitment to his constituents in NJ-03, coupled with his broad and deep experience in public service, only further proves his ability to serve the state as Senator.”

“Both Congressman Kim and his children attended New Jersey’s public schools, which demonstrates his commitment to working for a better New Jersey,” said Ogdensburg committee member Madison Gunderman.

“Andy’s intellect and qualifications for the job are indisputable, but it’s so much more than that,” said Leslie Boen, Byram Township Democratic Committee Chair. “It’s obvious to anyone who has met Andy or heard him speak that he is a public servant, not a politician. And that’s exactly what New Jersey needs right now. I am glad my fellow Byram Democrats agree.”

“We were excited about Andy before we actually heard from him directly, and now we are even more committed,” said Wantage Chair Susan Weiss. “His deep humility and authenticity underscore the reasons the momentum of grassroots Democrats is growing.”

“It really came down to qualifications and his willingness to communicate with his constituents,” said Frankford Chair Bill Hart. “His 72 town hall meetings speak to that.”

“Congressman Kim constantly demonstrates his preparedness to not only maneuver complex issues that affect New Jerseyans, but also to craft critical and compassionate legislation effective at the state and national levels alike,” said Dawne Rowe, current Franklin Chair and the former Sussex County Democratic Chairwoman.

First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. If elected to the Senate, Andy would be the 4th youngest Senator, the first senator from South Jersey in recent memory, and the first Asian American elected to the Senate from the entire east coast of America. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
