Congressman Andy Kim Announces Endorsement from Toms River Democratic Committee Ahead of Sunday’s Ocean County Convention

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of Toms River’s Democratic Committee in his bid for U.S. Senate. This endorsement comes after he announced previous endorsements of other Ocean County Local Democratic Clubs and Committees earlier this year, and before Ocean County’s convention, which is set to occur this upcoming Sunday, via secret ballot.

“I am so honored to have received Toms River’s endorsement, as I was fortunate to be able to represent them in Congress before redistricting, and worked with many of these members to achieve results like the new VA health clinic which will bring relief to so many veterans who need it,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “I’m excited to now take this energy and support to Ocean County’s convention on Sunday.”

"Congressman Andy Kim worked hard for the people of Toms River from the moment he got into office. Through his efforts, the township received millions in FEMA loan forgiveness, and our new VA Health Clinic will be opening soon,” said Toms River Democratic Committee Vice President Laurie Huryk. “In addition to those big-ticket items, there are hundreds of events Congressman Kim has attended and spoken at. Whether it's a small meeting or a festival in town, Andy shows up. He has been there for us, and is considered a part of our community. Most importantly, Congressman Kim gives me hope for the future. His integrity and unwavering values give me cause to believe that there are politicians out there willing to do the right thing for the people they represent. As the Vice-chair, I'm so proud to announce that the Toms River Democratic Committee voted to endorse Andy Kim for Senate!”

During his four years representing Toms River and other parts of Ocean County in the House, Kim worked to secure a new Veterans health clinic, stood up for victims of Superstorm Sandy, and delivered resources to address climate resilience, help local Meals on Wheels, support local law enforcement, and construct a new overpass on Route 539 by Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

  • First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. If elected to the Senate, Andy would be the 4th youngest Senator, the first senator from South Jersey in recent memory, and the first Asian American elected to the Senate from the entire east coast of America. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
