Congressman Andy Kim Lands Major Endorsement from AFGE in His Bid for U.S. Senate

AFGE Represents 750,000 Public Servants Across the Country, Including More Than 47,000 in the Northeast

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim received the endorsement from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) in his bid for U.S. Senate. AFGE’s 750,000 workers can be found in almost every federal agency and every function of government, spread across 900 local unions. AFGE members are nurses, correctional officers, doctors, Social Security professionals, TSA agents, law enforcement officers, park rangers, and represent almost every type of federal employee, with the the highest memberships including employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security. Together, they fight for dignity, safety, and fairness on the job so the government can more effectively serve the American people.

“This endorsement means so much because it comes from public servants who work everyday to improve American lives and keep the country running at every level,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “In the Senate, I will continue to stand up to ensure protections and fairness for those who are so vital in keeping our parks open, our country secure, and our Federal programs like social security and Veterans affairs running smoothly. Thanks to the hundreds of thousands of AFGE members for placing their trust in me.”

“Every election, millions of campaign dollars get spent to try and take out Representative Andy Kim or convince him to turn his back on working people. And yet, time and time again, the congressman stands with AFGE union members and all federal workers without hesitation,” said AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez. “He has a 100% voting record with AFGE, and so AFGE supports him 100% as our next U.S. senator from the great state of New Jersey.”

Congressman Andy Kim is a three-term Member of Congress first elected in 2018 and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
